Key Highlights

  1. Replaces the legacy Cost and Usage Report (CUR) interface.
  2. Allows creation of standard data exports, QuickSight dashboards, and legacy CUR reports.
  3. Provides flexible configuration, SQL previews, and granular delivery options.

Types of Exports

  1. Standard Data Export: For analyzing billing and usage data using tools like Amazon Athena or QuickSight.
  2. Cost and Usage Dashboard (QuickSight): Automatically deploys a dashboard for visual analysis using AWS QuickSight.
  3. Legacy CUR Export: Classic Cost and Usage Report (CUR). Still available, but will be deprecated in favor of the new export formats.

Other Notes

  1. Data Exports = New way to generate CUR and more.
  2. CUR 2.0 provides resource-level, tag-level, and cost allocation data.
  3. Use Athena, Redshift Spectrum, or QuickSight to analyze exports.
  4. Budgets are for real-time alerts; CUR/Data Exports are for post-usage analysis.
  5. File formats and storage (S3) must be configured by the user.
  6. Data Exports is under AWS Billing and Cost Management, not a standalone service.
